Media Literacy Week in the Regions of Armenia
This year, the “For Equal Rights” Educational Center NGO participated in the Media Literacy Week initiated by the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. As part of this initiative, teachers and students involved in our educational programs carried out a series of engaging activities in MIL hubs established by our organization in five schools across the Gegharkunik, Tavush, and Ararat regions.
High school students from Vardenis took an educational visit to Kyavar TV, where they explored the work of the television station and learned about the specifics of news production. In Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, students attended a digital security training, while in Noyemberyan and Martuni, they gained fact-checking skills and acquired practical knowledge in verifying information.
During Media Literacy Week, our students also initiated their own projects. In Noyemberyan, they organized a “MEDIA Labyrinth,” in Vardenis—a “MEDIA Quest,” and in the border village of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, they took part in compiling a book on the history of their community through interviews and discussions, gathering valuable information.
At the closing ceremony of the week, our team presented “Fake News Press Club,” an educational and humorous interactive performance created in collaboration with the Samson Movsisyan Theater Group. The performance was showcased in Ghukasavan, Ararat Region, and Akhuryan, Shirak Region, continuing our mission to make media literacy more accessible and practical.
