“Journalists for Rights” Workshop Continues
During the three-day “Journalists for Rights” workshop, the main topics of discussion were the legal and social issues faced by the forcibly displaced population from Artsakh, as well as the legislative gaps and coverage inaccuracies that complicate working with these target groups.
The social support programs provided to the people from Artsakh and the main challenges in this area were discussed with Yevgine Vardanyan, Advisor on the Coordination of Specific Functions of Structural Divisions of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
The workshop participants had a discussion with Mariam Gevorgyan, Deputy Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, about citizenship and status-related issues and the ongoing questions arising in passport departments.
The journalists were also presented with a fact-finding report prepared by several Armenian and international NGOs on the forced displacement from Artsakh, highlighting the human rights violations documented and the tools of international law as mechanisms for resolving the Artsakh conflict.
The workshop is part of the “Article 3. Journalists for Rights” journalism award ceremony, which is held annually on December 10, International Human Rights Day, with pre-announced nominations and a monetary prize fund.
The program is implemented with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia.
