Spreading Media Literacy in Ararat Province
“Resilience through Media Literacy” program focused its efforts on Ararat Province, where we had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with dedicated and conscientious teachers in 2024. “Resilience through Media Literacy” program became a reality thanks to the support of the international organization Freedom House and the Foundation for the Development of Democracy.
At the Ghukasavan Secondary School, we launched our fifth media literacy hub. Within the framework of the program, grants were also awarded to Marine Zaroyan, a teacher at Aralez Secondary School, and Karine Avetisyan, a teacher at Vanashen Secondary School.
The teachers organized several dozen events through non-formal educational media clubs, equipping young people with both theoretical and practical knowledge related to media literacy. They made the learning process engaging by incorporating thematic competitions, games, film screenings, and performances. As a result, more than forty teenagers in these two communities gained new knowledge and skills this year.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the beneficiary teachers of our program for their professional work, and to Martin Manukyan, Head of the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports of the Ararat Regional Administration, for the effective cooperation.
