“YOUTH AGAINST CORRUPTION” project

The first capacity building training in the framework of “YOUTH AGAINST CORRUPTION” project took place in Dilijan from August 5-7 for the youth of Tavush region.
During the three-day training, participants had the unique opportunity to study the whistleblowing system with Liana Tovmasyan, Advisor to the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, and Tatevik Khachatryan, Head of the Monitoring Division of Anti-Corruption Policy Development and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Justice.
The training continued with a session led by Eva Saghoyan, Advisor to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, where participants were introduced to mechanisms for protecting whistleblowers.
Mariam Hoveyan, Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center project manager, guided the participants through the various types and manifestations of corruption.
Gayane Abrahamyan, founding president of “For Equal Rights” Educational Center NGO, discussed the destructive consequences corruption can have on state security and governance systems.
An important aspect of the training was the transfer of practical skills and knowledge. Investigative journalists Gevorg Tosunyan and Tirayr Muradyan taught the students methods and tools for checking public procurements and officials’ declarations.
“Youth Against Corruption” project is implemented within the framework of the “Armenia Integrity” project with the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
